At St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School Summer Hill we highly value student voice. Student participation in leadership is encouraged and we give students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills.
We empower our students to strive to make a positive difference in our world. Our student leadership is based on our school values enabling student leaders to proactively lead students in initiatives designed to instill compassion, justice, integrity and stewardship.
All Year 6 students are considered student leaders, with a number of specific roles. We have School Captains, Colour House Captains, Student Representative Council (SRC) Captains, Mini Vinnies Team, Media Officer, Environment Officers and Library Monitors. We participate in leadership building days, facilitated by a student leadership coach. Students in Years 3, 4 and 5 are elected by their peers to the SRC.
Student voice extends to the classroom where student-driven learning enables students to be active participants in their learning journey. They receive and are provided with feedback on their learning, and set goals for future learning.
