We value positive relationships with parents and carers to help develop better social and emotional skills in children. We know that when children are engaged with their learning, they attend school more regularly, leading to better long term outcomes.
For parenting and counselling services, visit the Family Support page, and for direction and clarity on regulations, processes and procedures at our school, read the Sydney Catholic School policies.
Learning in action
Parents at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School Summer Hill are invited on learning walks each term for a chance to see learning in action in the classroom. Early each year we hold a ‘meet the teacher night,’ followed by a welcome BBQ. Parent-teacher-student interviews are held mid year.
Communicating with St Patrick’s
Our main method of communication with parents is through our fortnightly newsletter. Quick reminders or updates are communicated through the Compass student information system, via emails, phone calls and coming soon, social media. Parents can of course call to book a meeting with a teacher when required.
Supporting the students
We are incredibly fortunate to have a community that is willing to lend a hand during a number of activities that could not run without the generosity of volunteers. These activities include sporting events and community building activities as well as classroom assistance. St Patrick’s Parent Group (SPPG) work collaboratively with the school in an engaged and positive manner to support the development of the students and the school. The SPPG meet each term to discuss school-related matters as well as plans for future social activities and fundraising events.
